"I am just taking a moment to thank you all including the "gardener" for the wonderful care Shirley received at Westbourne. From the moment she moved in, almost three years ago to the day, she was treated with understanding, dignity, compassion and kindness. Richard and I never had any concerns about her welfare and the last chapter of her life was as happy as it could be. To the end she was still the Duchess!!"

~ Richard and Jill

"In line with what we are sure would have been Mum's wishes I'll be making a reasonable donation towards your staff "Social & Welfare fund in the near future"

~ Julian

"To all the staff at Westbourne,

Thank you all for not only the professional care you gave our Mum (Daphne), but also for the friendship & companionship that she gained.

with many thanks & much gratitude"

~ Julian, Sandra and the Butcher family

"A really big thank you to everyone at Westbourne for helping to make Margaret's 100th so memorable & enjoyable. Everyone had a great time at the party - sorry for setting smoke alarms off! I know Margaret enjoyed it immensely.

We really appreciate all the care & thoughtfulness"

"I was going to write to you in any case about our experience of Westbourne. I fully realise that my mother was in your care for a very short time, and I have little to compare it with, but I would class it as exceptional.

From our first contact with Jill Shepherd, at this difficult time, we were filled with optimism - she is an excellent manager and ambassador for your home. We were talked through the process carefully and sympathetically. There were so many aspects to your working practices that surprised and delighted me. For example when I asked about visiting times I was informed that I could come and go as I liked.

I visited my mother frequently and at different times of the day and on each occasion the atmosphere was warm and friendly. On one occasion there was live music playing.

Despite my mother being very poorly she was given every consideration and the opportunity to join in where she could. It would be difficult to single out any one member of your staff because all those I came across were positive and professional.

If my mother did have to spend her final weeks in a care home, I am so pleased that it was Westbourne. Please pass on our thanks to your staff"

"Dear Jill,

This is just a small note to say a vast "Thank you" to you and to all your staff for your care of Mum over the last nearly-eight tears. It takes a lot to make a residential unit into a home, and I am aware (at least in part) of the pressures, constraints and difficulties with which you have to work... let alone the residents! We have been so grateful that, from the out set, Mum was as settled, happy & comfortable as she could be in her circumstances. All of the staff team, seen and unseen, have supported and contributed to her care, even if her appreciation may not always have been apparent!

Also her companions in the lounge and dining room have been good friends and acquaintances over the years. We will miss seeing them (but might pop in!).

It meant a lot to us that you came to the service (even though I had a senior moment for which I apologise).

So this comes with my, and our, thanks to the whole team & establishment, and many best wishes"

~ Rosie Welch
